Six-month-old baby killed in car accident, another drowns in bucket

A six-month-old baby died when a Toyota Quantum kombi overturned in the Hlathikhulu area.

According to a police report, on Monday afternoon, near Enyokenu along Magele Salem on the MR9 public road, the Toyota Quantum was driven by a 33-year-old man from Dvokolwako, lost control, went off the road and overturned with 18 passengers.

All were rushed to Hlathikhulu Government Hospital where the six-month-old baby was certified dead upon arrival. The driver and two passengers were reportedly admitted while the other 11 were treated and discharged.

On another note, a 16-month-old toddler was reportedly discovered to have drowned in a 20-litre container behind a house in the Tinkonjaneni area in Big Bend. The toddler was discovered at 7:05 am on Monday.
