Fr Ncamiso Ncamiso Vilakati of the Roman Catholic Church in Eswatini has rebuked the call to gender neutralise God made by bishops in the Church of England.
The church announced that they were launching a project on gendered language this spring which could result in halting the use of male pronouns, ‘He’ and ‘Him’ in prayers, and further dropping the phrases ‘Our Father’ from the Lord’s Prayer.
In response to the statement, Father Ncamiso said God is neither female nor male, but there is one God, in three persons. God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
“But when we pray to our God our Father, our Heavenly Father, we have no authority whatsoever to dis-gender Him. Jesus has already told us, that he is the Father, so case closed there,” he emphasised.
