Facelift for Olymp Africa Centre courts

By Ntokozo Magongo

The Olymp Africa Centre is getting an upgrade ahead of the official opening of the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) new offices in Lobamba.

The centre is on the same premises as the offices. The courts that host several games including volleyball, netball, tennis, and other sporting activities are currently being resurfaced.

The usage of the courts has been halted temporarily and they will be available again once the official opening is done on February 25, 2023.

“Olymp Africa Centre (OAC) is currently undergoing some resurfacing, as such the usage of the courts has been halted temporarily,” reads a statement from the EOCGA.

The construction of the structure was made possible through the support in funding by various structures including the International Olympic Committee and the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC).

The opening of the new structure will be held alongside the celebrations of EOCGA’s 50 years of existence in the country. It is expected to be a big function with invited sports administrators from the International Olympic Solidarity (IOC).
