“Mayibongwe deeply trouble about daughter’s well-being in last days”

By Khulile Thwala

Sorrow filled the auditorium at All Nations Christian Church in Zion Hall as late gospel sensation Mayibongwe Mthimkhulu Lukhele’s colleagues rendered a performance in celebration of her life.

Making her remarks, the teachers’ representative, who preferred to be addressed as Teacher Sukati, decried Mthimkhulu’s final days at the school.

She detailed how Mthimkhulu was deeply troubled in her last days and constantly lamented over her daughter’s well-being. The late Mthimkhulu allegedly constantly raised concerns that she did not want her daughter to grow up without her mother.

“She was so worried about her daughter, and she even brought her to the school during the last week we saw her at St Mark’s. When we addressed her daughter in English, she said we should do so in Siswati so that she learns both languages,” said Sukati.

“We learned a lot from Mrs Lukhele, who previously hired a bus for the pupils when the school was bereaved after a teacher had passed away,” said Sukati.
The teacher further described Mthimkhulu as a bubbly character who will be greatly missed. A heartfelt tribute was also rendered by St Mark’s Primary School pupils who sang during the memorial and further made remarks describing Mthimkhulu as an ambitious and caring character who assisted needy children at the school.

Also present in attendance is Archbishop Vusi Gama from South Africa.
