The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) met with the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Matsapha on Wednesday to collaborate and strengthen relations.
Representing the SAPS was the Gauteng Community Safety Head of Department Ntsiki Sisulu along with her team. They met with Deputy National Commissioner Mandla Mdluli at the Matsapha Police Academy.
The meeting saw both the Department of Safety and REPS sharing the best practices regarding Traffic Law Enforcement, Road Safety Promotion as well as benchmarking in terms of traffic training and development, among others.
The activities the law enforcement agencies underwent during the meeting included sharing best practice morals including advancement in the technological environment. Both law enforcement agencies presented the best practices from the two countries to effectively capacitate each other.
Presenting on the REPS’ Curriculum Design and Examination Unit was Service Inspector Zama Mkhaliphi.
Mkhaliphi said the unit is aimed at a systematic analysis of the training needs of the REPS at all levels.
“The Curriculum Design and Examination Unit is devoted to improving the quality of human resources through timely planning, designing, development, implementation, and evaluation,” shared Mkhaliphi during the meeting.
She was followed by one Inspector Dlamini, who shared best practices when it came to the importance of drills in the security forces, highlighting that the purpose of drills is to instil discipline and inculcate the police culture in trainees.
Members of the SAPS also shared their expertise during the meeting, such as a presentation on the different types of drills by Gauteng Traffic Police Chief Provincial Inspector Brian Modise.
