Moneni Pirates midfielder, Mbongeni Magagula’s 43 rd minute goal was enough to transport the Moneni Buccaneers to a 1-0 victory over Nsingizini Hotspurs at Mavuso Sports Centre this afternoon.
Magagula beat Nsingizini’s goalkeeper, Sibusiso Dlamini from the near post after a well-centred cross from winger Mphumuzo Sangweni. It was sweet revenge for the Moneni Buccaneers who had lost to the premier league rookies twice this season.

First, it was the 2-1 final loss during the inaugural MoMo Cup on October 30, 2022, and then in the MTN league on November 27, 2022, when Thubelihle Mavuso’s 57th-minute goal became the match-winner.
In a match played at a subdued pace, the two teams failed to give the less than 300 fans here their money’s worth with misdirected passes, poor shots, and poor tactical play. With an array of ball players in both camps, the two teams delivered sleep-inducing football.

In the end, Mbongeni Magagula’s well-struck shot on the near post proved to be the winner for the Pirates and brought back smiles to the motley supporters who had watched in awe their team go down 1-0 to Royal Leopard at the same venue last Saturday.
