Artists from Eswatini, Lesotho and South Africa have been invited to apply for a three-month residency exchange in Leipzig, Germany.

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Pretoria through their International Art Programme has invited the artists to be based at a former cotton mill turned cultural hub.

The programme focuses on being in a place for experimentation and learning within a strong local artist community and a city rich in traditions.

The embassy details how local and international artists based in the hub will have a strong impact on each other while exchanging cultural experiences.

The founder of the programme, Anna-Louise Rolland, said “At the Leipzig International Art Programme (LIA) we believe that moving outside of our comfort zone leads to new perspectives opening up. International visual artists working together with professional musicians, public spaces and institutions like museums fit perfectly into this philosophy and this type of collaboration leads to new approaches being developed and new kinds of artistic exchanges taking place.”
