Man steals amplifiers worth E1.2 million, arrested

A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stealing amplifiers worth E1.2 million.

Thokozani Sdumo Malindzisa of the Tikhuba area allegedly stole seven Rohde & Schwarz Broadcast amplifiers valued at the E1.2 million which were in the lawful possession of Wandile Comfort Mhlanga at Mangwaneni.

Malindzisa was on May 26 arrested and charged with theft. He made his first court appearance before Magistrate Lenhle Zulu on May 29 where his rights to legal representation were explained, and he opted to conduct his defence.

The crown moved an application that he is remanded back to police custody pending committal at the high court, where he is also expected to move a bail application. Malindzisa will return to court on June 6 for remand.
