BUMPER festive football fiesta is on the cards for Premier League teams. The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) is on the verge of staging a top eight tournament during the festive holidays. A source close to the matter revealed that the tournament is set to feature the top eight teams in the first round.
“The executive committee is working tirelessly hard to stage the top eight tournament. The plan is to conclude the first round before the festive holidays to give way to the new top eight tournament. Logistics of the tournament will be revealed in due course,” the source said.

PLE Chairman Mark Carmichael confirmed the news to Eswatini Daily News without disclosing further details of the new tournament. Some of the teams that currently stands a chance to feature in the tournament include Green Mamba, Madlenya, Mbabane Swallows, Young Buffaloes, Mbabane Highlanders Royal Leopard, Sea Birds and Nsingizini Hotspurs as they are sitting in the top eight bracket with four games remaining before the end of the first round.
This will be second tournament to be introduced by the PLE this season after the revived Cup which was staged in September at Mavuso Sports Centre. The topflight football organisation will also stage the prestigious Ingwenyama Cup in due course.
