Foreign Affairs Minister receives courtesy call from Moroccan Chargé d’Affaires, strengthen ties

In a display of the strong bond between the two nations, Eswatini’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Her Excellency Pholile Shakantu, recently welcomed Hachem El Moummy, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Morocco to Eswatini, for a courtesy call.

The meeting underscored the longstanding cordial relations that Eswatini and Morocco share. Built on a foundation of trust, respect, and mutually beneficial cooperation, these ties have flourished over time.

The discussions between Minister Shakantu and El Moummy centered on ways to further strengthen the existing cooperation between the two kingdoms. Areas of potential collaboration could encompass a wide range of topics, such as trade, investment, cultural exchange, and security.

Eswatini and Morocco’s relationship is a prime example of successful cooperation between African nations. Their continued commitment to mutual respect and understanding paves the way for a future filled with even stronger ties.

Eswatini and Morocco boasts a relationship built on a strong foundation of fraternal ties and historical common ground. Established in 1996, their diplomatic relations are characterized by mutual trust, respect, and a commitment to working together for their mutual benefit.

Additionally, Eswatini and Morocco collaborate on issues of regional importance, demonstrating their commitment to a more peaceful and prosperous Africa.

Recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu, was in Morocco to participate in the High-Level Ministerial Conference on Middle-Income Countries (MICs) held in Rabbat. While there, Minister Pholile Shakantu emphasized the importance of solidarity and innovative solutions to address the multifaceted challenges faced by MICs.

She highlighted the pressing issues of technological disparities, environmental concerns, and the enduring impact of natural disasters. These challenges require a unified approach from the international community, fostering collaboration and the development of creative solutions.

On the sidelines of conference, Minister Pholile Shakantu seized the opportunity to meet with her Moroccan counterpart, the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.

Their discussions focused on renewing the commitment to collaboration between Eswatini and Morocco.

Eswatini students shine at International Day in Morocco

Eswatini students studying in Morocco are making their mark, according to a recent Facebook post by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The post highlighted the students’ enthusiastic participation in events at their universities, promoting Eswatini’s image in North Africa and to fellow students from Africa, the Caribbean, and Pacific nations.


On Sunday, the Eswatini student body took center stage at the International Day, an event organized by the Family of Champions International.

multicultural gathering provided a platform for students from various countries to share their unique cultures.

The Eswatini students impressed the others with their presentations about their homeland, Eswatini and a dazzling display of Swati cuisine.
