Black Diamond joined forces with Megasound Event to present the inaugural Umuthi Fest



South African Afro Pop sensation, Blaq Diamond, has joined forces with Megasound Events to present the inaugural Umuthi Fest.
Set to take place on April 18, 2024, at the prestigious Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre’s Outdoor Arena, this festival promises to be a celebration of music, culture, and unity. Umuthi Fest is the brainchild of Blaq Diamond’s record label and movement, Umuthi. Founded as a testament to their musical journey and artistic vision, Umuthi Records aims to showcase the best of South African talent and creativity.

In an exclusive interview with Zulu D of Megasound Events, it was confirmed that the dynamic duo from Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, will headline the festival alongside four to five other prominent acts from South Africa. Zulu D expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Umuthi Records has partnered with us to bring Umuthi Fest to life. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience for music lovers of all kinds.”
Tickets for Umuthi Fest are already available for purchase at Computicket, with presale general admission priced at E150 and VIP tickets at E400. For those who prefer to make a last-minute decision, tickets will also be available at the gate for E200.

Blaq Diamond’s rise to fame has been nothing short of remarkable. From their debut album ‘Inqola’ to their chart-topping singles ‘Ibhanoyi’ and ‘Love Letter,’ the duo has captured the hearts of fans worldwide with their unique blend of Afro-soul, Maskandi, and Umbhaqanga influences.
Having recently released their latest album, ‘Zulu Romance Part 1,’ on February 29, 2024, Blaq Diamond continues to push boundaries and redefine the sound of modern African music. Their accolades include a SAMA Record of the Year award for ‘Ibhanoyi.’

The duo met in 2010 while on a school trip where they participated in a rap cypher in the school bus and began spending more time together, participating in school functions which earned them recognition in the community and local surroundings. The two decided to move to Johannesburg for better musical prospects, which made them sign under Ambitiouz Entertainment in 2017.



At the 6th ceremony of the All-Africa Music Awards, their song ‘Summer YoMuthi’ received eight nominations including, Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa, Artiste of the Year in Africa, Song of the Year in Africa, Producer of the Year in Africa, Best Male Artiste in African Inspirational Music, Breakout Artiste of the Year, Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Pop, and Best African Duo, Group or Band.
