Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini departed the Kingdom of Eswatini on Sunday for a highly anticipated visit to the Republic of China, Taiwan.
This marks the Prime Minister’s first official trip to Taiwan since assuming office. The Premier left the Kingdom through the King Mswati III International Airport.
The visit stems from the strong bilateral relations between Eswatini and Taiwan, established in 1968. For over five decades, the two nations have fostered a deep partnership, collaborating on projects across various sectors.

This collaboration is evident in the recent visit by the Kingdom’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
During her five-day visit, she met with both the President and President-elect, further solidifying the long-standing relationship.
The visit culminated in the signing of a historic joint declaration by Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu and Minister Pholile Shakantu, commemorating over five decades of diplomatic ties.
Eswatini and Taiwan’s partnership boasts numerous achievements. Taiwan has been a key player in supporting Eswatini’s economic development through investments and trade partnerships.

In the public health sector, Taiwan has played a crucial role in upgrading healthcare infrastructure and enhancing medical expertise in Eswatini.
Agricultural practices and technologies have also been shared, contributing to increased food security and agricultural productivity in Eswatini.
Furthermore, cooperation in the technology sector has helped bridge the digital divide, promoting greater connectivity and access to information for Eswatini’s citizens.
Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini’s visit is expected to further strengthen the bonds between the two nations.
Discussions are likely to focus on expanding cooperation in existing sectors and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
The visit holds immense significance for both Eswatini and Taiwan, solidifying their long-standing partnership and paving the way for a future of continued mutual benefit.
