Matsapha businessman murder: 6th suspect, an Ex-convict on Cops most wanted list, arrested

By Thokozani Mazibuko

A SIXTH suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of Matsapha businessman Sifiso Simelane.

The suspect has been on the Royal Eswatini Police Service’s most-wanted list. Impeccable Police sources have disclosed to Eswatini Daily News that the suspect from Malkerns and others were on the run after the robbery and gruesome murder of the late Matsapha Businessman, Sifiso Simelane.

Simelane was brutally murdered in the early hours of January 23, 2024. The killers slit his throat open and this was after they had robbed him and his family of various items, including a car (a BMW sedan, which they later dumped at Luyengo) and money which was in his safe and bank account among other things. After killing him, they dumped his body in a forest around Malkerns.

The suspect’s role in the subsequent murder of the late businessman will be revealed during his remand hearing soon before the Manzini Magistrate Court. However, the REPS on its official page has confirmed the apprehension of the suspect whose name is known to the publication but can’t be revealed until he has appeared in court.

The publication has gathered that the arrested individual is not new in the criminal world. He has served several years at His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) for similar offences. It has been reliably gathered that he recently completed his sentence at the Manzini Remand Centre.

The late businessman was allegedly robbed of an unconfirmed sum of money. He was kidnapped and was forced to withdraw it from several ATMs around Matsapha. The suspect’s arrest is a breakthrough as there are several other suspects still on the run.
