Banele Nyamane, CEO of Eswatini Sugar Association, emerged victorious in the One Lilangeni Campaign competition, clinching the coveted OUKITEL smartphone C-36 as his giveaway prize.

The competition, spearheaded by SOS Children’s Villages, aims to mobilize funds towards their E 2.7 million target for the year 2024, supporting vulnerable children under their care.

Nyamane, a former board member of SOS Children’s Villages, stumbled upon the competition advertisement on the organization’s Facebook page and promptly decided to contribute E500. His motive, he revealed, was not to win but to extend a helping hand to the noble cause championed by SOS.

“I am utterly surprised that I won. I am even more surprised that this is an exclusive smartphone. When they called me from SOS, I was thinking the phone was a Sgedlemba (meaning a non-smartphone), but still I was very excited that I won.

Now I am happy that I will be testing this new brand. Thank you so much for this prize,” expressed Nyamane, brimming with excitement.

He further applauded the perfect collaboration of the two entities. Reflecting on the symbiotic partnership between SOS Children’s Villages and Oukitel, the CEO emphasized the critical role of corporate collaboration in supporting NGOs dedicated to assisting vulnerable children.

He urged like-minded organizations and individuals to rally behind SOS, amplifying their efforts to improve the lives of children nationwide.

In response, Hlobisile Skhosana, Fundraising Manager at SOS Children’s Villages, extended heartfelt appreciation to all individuals and companies who contributed to the competition.

“As a non-profit organization, we are humbled by the support of individuals and companies in Eswatini. Whatever amount is donated, we appreciate.

For us, there is no money too little to be donated, that is why our campaign is called the One Lilangeni Campaign,’ so that anyone can donate any amount they have, from as little as a lilangeni,” remarked Skhosana.

Further extending the momentum of the competition, SOS Children’s Villages announced additional prizes, including a full dish set donated by Tupperware Sicalo Sales. Individuals who donate E200 or more stand a chance to win this generous contribution.

During the launch, SOS with the campaign was of the view that even small contributions can make a significant difference.

The Children’s Haven stated that every E1 donated, aptly named “One Lilangeni,” brings SOS closer to providing vital care and support for children in need.

To add an extra layer of excitement, SOS then partnered with Oukitel Eswatini to offer a brand-new smartphone as the grand prize in a raffle draw.
