31-year-old man charged for housebreaking, theft of Handigas cylinder

Bheki Makhubu (31) made his second appearance at the Mbabane Magistrate’s Court, charged with housebreaking and the theft of a Handigas Cylinder, among other items.

The incident took place on February 21, 2024, at Ngwenya Village. Makhubu was accused of unlawfully entering the home of Thabsile Simelane and making off with items valued at E4 150.

Among the stolen items were a 19 KG Grey Afrox Handigas Cylinder, a Black Bluetooth Bondsonic speaker, an EEC Overhead copper cable, and a knife set.

Testifying against the accused, Thabsile Simelane recounted the experience of returning home to find her house broken into and her belongings missing.

She said she was away when the incident happened and when she came back, she found her house broken into.

“My burglar was broken, and my key couldn’t open the door. When I looked around, I noticed an iron rod, which I suppose was used for the break-in,” she narrated.

She added that she then asked for help from his neighbour who opened the door for her.

“When I got in, I discovered that a 19 KG Grey Afrox Handigas Cylinder, a Black Bluetooth Bondsonic speaker, an EEC Overhead copper cable, and a knife set were missing in the house,” she revealed.



She told the court that she told the community police and only the Handigas and Bluetooth speaker were recovered. Makhubu has been remanded out of custody until April 16, 2024, awaiting further orders from the court.
