Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo issued a statement condemning allegations of corruption and abuse of power levelled against the Prime Minister, Russell Mmiso Dlamini.
The statement, delivered amidst a storm of accusations circulating on social media, strongly refuted the claims, asserting them as baseless and part of a smear campaign to tarnish the Prime Minister’s image and integrity.

“These accusations, unfortunately, are not being backed by any evidence and are clearly a smear campaign meant to tarnish the image and integrity of His Excellency and the office that he occupies,” stated Nxumalo, expressing the gravity of the situation.
Nxumalo emphasized the Prime Minister’s enormous commitment to combating corruption, echoing His Majesty King Mswati III’s call to eradicate corruption without fear or favour.
This commitment was further highlighted through the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Task Team on February 12th of this year, where the Prime Minister declared that “no one is immune” from investigation and prosecution.
The Government’s statement categorically dismissed any corruption accusations against the Prime Minister as an orchestrated trick to divert attention from the true perpetrators of corruption within the country.

Nxumalo stated that the Prime Minister had been thoroughly vetted and found in good standing before assuming office, citing the National Disaster Management Agency’s receipt of six clean audits from a reputable international audit firm during his tenure as Chief Executive Officer, including audits covering the utilization of Covid-19 funds.
Inviting scrutiny and verification of the accusations through established legal channels, the Government asserted its commitment to transparency and accountability.
“Government will not be subjected to a permanent state of defending and explaining political machinations and character assassination manoeuvres directed to those who hold public office, including His Excellency and other officials,” concluded Nxumalo.
