Trio charged for theft of material worth E108 000

Three men were granted bail of E7 000 each for making away with items worth E108 000 near Siphocosini.

According to the charge sheet, the trio is said to have at or near the Siphocosini area in the district of Hhohho, said accused persons wrongfully, unlawfully, and intentionally stolen the under-listed items valued at E40 800 at the property of or in the lawful possession of Manyathi Mbongeni and thus committed the offence.

The list of stolen items includes a Spring pack handred valued at E4 500 a stabilizer pocket valued at E1200, landing leg blackish handred valued at E7 000.

The men who appeared in front of Magistrate Innocent Motsa were Nhlanhla Nhlabatsi, Salabesho Nhlabatasi and Bheki Zwane. Accused persons 1, 2 and 3 were charged with the offence of theft, therefore. Other items stolen were two boom jacks, a diff, and two drums all valued at E50 000.

When mitigating to the magistrate and court, the men mentioned they were all breadwinners and had children in school they had to take care of.

“Your worship I have three children, and my mother is also sickly and depends on me this is why I stole the stuff because I was trying to make fast cash,” said Nhlanhla Nhlabatsi.

Bheki Zwane pleaded for leniency citing that he was an expectant father with an entire family consisting of siblings to take care of.

In the same court, an accused Pholani Maphalala appeared for theft of E500 from Lizwe Nkosi, the money was stolen in Mbabane Mountain View Hotel.

Meanwhile, Ntokozo Masina was charged with the offence of contravening Section 3 (1) (a) (ii) as read with Section 32 (1) (a) of the Road Transportation Act 5 of 2007.

It is said that on March 25, 2024, on about 18:02 hours and at or near Teba, in the region of Hhohho, Mbabane the said accused.

The driver of motor vehicle FSD 282 CH, a Toyota Quantum Mini-bus wrongfully and unlawfully drove the said motor vehicle along MR 3 Public Road and failed to comply with the condition of a permit by ranking at Teba instead of Mbabane Bus Rank and thus contravened the above-cited Act
