The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu, welcomed a courtesy call from the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Eswatini, Dessislava Choumelova, on Wednesday.
The discussions centered around the imperative of enhancing cooperation between the European Union and the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Minister Pholile Shakantu who has just returned from a working visit in Serbia and Turkiye, has been on a robust mission to strengthen diplomatic ties with other nations as per His Majesty King Mswat III’s command of “Nkwe for growth.”
The Minister has been at the forefront of efforts to strengthen relations with numerous countries.
The visit from Ambassador Choumelova to the Minister, came at a significant time, as the European Union recently celebrated Europe Day, where they highlighted the importance of peace, unity and cooperation among European nations.
During their commemoration of the Europe Day, Choumelova made emphasis on continuing the partnership with the Kingdom.

The European Union and the Kingdom of Eswatini have a long-standing and cordial partnership dating back more than 50 years now which was established in the 1960s.
The partnership has been beneficial and developmental in the Kingdom.
This partnership focuses on poverty reduction and the promotion of sustainable and inclusive growth and development.
In pursuit of democracy, rule of law, and human rights, the EU also supports the democratization process within the country.
