Baby mama’s family framing me for rape-Teacher

By Bahle Gama

A teacher employed at Ekuthuleni High School has been arrested and charged for allegedly raping a pupil from the school.

In his bail application filed on Thursday May 23,2024, Phiwayinkhosi Nkambule told the High Court that the allegation have been cooked up by the pupil’s family because she is a baby daddy to her aunt who is bitter.

Nkambule stated that he resides at the teachers’ quarters and the pupil would occasionally come to his house to deliver a message from her aunt now and then.

Sometimes she would come to warm her food in the microwave oven in his house.

However, his relationship with the complainant’s aunt deteriorated due to some differences they had.

“I only noted during the year that the complainant had stopped coming to my house and I didn’t think much of it as I attributed the change to the strained relationship between myself and her aunt,” submitted Nkambule.

no to rape

On May 19, 2024, he received a call from Nhlangano police station requesting that he come to the station and Nkambule duly complied.

Upon arrival, he was informed that they were investigating allegations that sometime in November 2023 he forcefully had sexual intercourse with the complainant and was subsequently charged with rape.

“I never had sexual relations with the complainant who I always regarded as a relative.

I am certain the allegations emanate from the strained relationship with her aunt, and I suspect their family is trying to destroy me by making these baseless allegations which are serious and have grave consequences for me,” submitted Nkambule.

He further told the court that he has no alternative place of residence except for his workplace and parental homestead at Mehlwabovu, in Shiselweni.

Nkambule stated that it would be in the interest of justice to have him admitted to bail pending trial. He further undertook to adhere to all bail conditions imposed by the court.

“The urgency emanates from the fact that I am languishing in the custody, and this has adverse consequences for my livelihood such as potential loss of empowerment which will also affect my two minor children who are solely dependent on me,” he submitted.
