After several calls to improve efficiency and uphold ethical standards within the Ministry of Home Affairs, Minister Princess Lindiwe has issued a strong directive to all officials.

During a high-level meeting focused on validating the National Migration Policy, the minister emphasised the importance of integrity and combating misconduct.

Princess Lindiwe addressed the meeting, highlighting the critical need for the National Migration Policy to align seamlessly with the forthcoming Immigration Bill.

She described the policy as a vital tool for streamlining the management of migration processes within the Kingdom.

The minister further accentuated the urgency for the ministry to modernise its legislative framework.

This overhaul is necessary to ensure alignment with Eswatini’s pursuit of first-world status and its commitments outlined in the ‘Nkwe’ declaration.

When highlighting the importance of this endeavour, Princess Lindiwe expressed the ongoing development of the Immigration Bill, where she emphasised its central role in fulfilling the nation’s mandate.

The Immigration Bill, which is nearing completion, is said to have served as the cornerstone for establishing a robust legal framework governing the entry, stay, and departure of individuals within Eswatini.

The minister stressed that this legislation is essential for strengthening the country’s governance structures and safeguarding national security.

As Eswatini strives towards its vision for progress and development, Princess Lindiwe made the call where she emphasised the crucial role of accountability and ethical conduct.

The minister further asserted that these principles are fundamental to enhancing service delivery and ensuring compliance with the legal frameworks governing migration and immigration activities.

During the discussions where several officials participated, the minister’s stance against malpractice and misconduct was lauded and said it signals the ministry’s dedication to strengthening a culture of responsibility and professionalism amongst Home Affairs officials.

It was said that this approach will ensure that the ministry operates efficiently and aligns with the Kingdom’s long-term strategic objectives.
