  • The deceased was stabbed on the neck after trying to negotiate peace between gang 
  • ‘The known suspect then stabbed 5 more others, one critical, then escaped’ 

Bar patrons witnessed one of the most brutal stabbing incidents in the year 2024 at Mashobeni, an area geographically located in Nhlangano, in the Shiselweni Region over the past weekend.

According to an impeccable source, the incident occurred around 3 am on Saturday.

“It was 3 am and the patrons were enjoying their beverages when one of the victims came and sat on the pool table while the others were playing.

That is what sparked the brawl between the two groups of gangs and fighting ensured between them,” disclosed the source.

Further, the source, disclosed that the deceased who is the 25-year-old man, then started to separate the two groups from each other to restore peace.

“That is when one of the men took out a knife and stabbed the peacemaker in the neck and that is when he fell and instantly died.

The suspect then went on to stab the five others in their stomachs, arms and legs and thereafter escaped into the forest when an alarm was sounded,” further disclosed the source to Eswatini Daily News, on Sunday.

The sources said all the five victims were immediately transported to Hlathikhulu Hospital where some of them were treated and discharged.

“One of the victims proved to be critical as he was stabbed several times and he was transferred to the Mbabane Government Hospital on Saturday morning,” revealed the source.

“On 01/06/2024 at 0230 hours, a 25-year-old man of Mashobeni was stabbed to death with a sharp object on the neck by a known person while at Mashobeni.

Investigations are still ongoing,” confirmed the Deputy Police Information and Communication Officer, Assistant Superintendent, Nosipho Mnguni.

Mnguni went on to report that two men from the Ka Khuphuka area aged 68 and 70 years old, respectively were arrested and charged for hunting and killing a Bush Buck and an Inyala while at Hlane Big Game Park.

Suspects will appear before the court on Monday 03/06/2024

Moreover, the Deputy PICO reported that One Hundred and Eight [108] cases of drunken driving were recorded over the past weekend.
