……The meeting starts today and will be held under the theme ‘The Future We Make Together: Shares Growth, Sustainability and Solidarity’

His Majesty King Mswati III, accompanied by Inkhosikati LaNgangaza, joined other African leaders at the welcome dinner hosted by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Monday.

The dinner preceded the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit where His Majesty will join other leaders at the meeting which kicks off today 4-5 June.

The event was held at the classy Shilla Hotel in Seoul City which is the country’s capital.

About 48 heads of state are expected to take part in this inaugural gathering hosted by the government of South Korea.

His Majesty is among the leaders expected to deliver speeches during the official opening of the summit. The summit will be held at KINTEX.

The 2024 Korea-Africa Summit aims to elevate cooperation between Korea and Africa, by bringing together heads of state and international organisations in Africa and key figures from Korean government communities, including South Korea.

The summit, which begins on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in Ilsan, is set to strengthen cooperation and shared growth between Korea and Africa.

Under the theme “The Future We Make Together: Shared Growth, Sustainability, and Solidarity,” the event is said to bring together delegations from 48 African countries.

The summit will feature a series of discussions and sessions involving African heads of state, heads of Africa-related international organisations, and key figures from the Korean government, including South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.

On the first day, the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit will see African leaders and representatives of international organisations gather to explore avenues for enhancing collaboration on sustainability and economic solidarity.

On the following day, June 5, the 2024 Korea-Africa Business Summit will take place in Seoul.

This segment will focus on business and investment opportunities, with heads of state or government and business leaders from Korea and Africa engaging in dialogue to strengthen economic ties and strengthen mutual growth.

Prominent speakers at the summit include Chairman Yoon Jin Sik of the Korea International Trade Association, Minister Dukgeun Ahn of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

African Union Chairman Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, and Secretary General Wamkele Mene of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement Secretariat, Rwanda Development Board (RDB) Chief Executive Officer Gatare Francis to name a few.

These distinguished figures will address key issues such as trade, industry, and sustainable development, which is set to highlight the shared goals of Korea and Africa.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Pholile Shakantu joined His Majesty and Inkhosikati at the dinner.
