The Government of Taiwan in a bid to mitigate the fight against Malaria has donated E 1,000,000.00 to the Malaria fund.

Taiwan has not only contributed financially towards ending malaria but has also done so in kind through the Taiwan Medical Mission which has just procured 500 malaria rapid diagnostic tests and 500 sachets of atelic insecticide, as well as lab consumables to support our microscopy training for lab technologists next month.

When receiving the donation, Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula said they were grateful to be the beneficiaries of this gift from Taiwan, as it will aid tremendously in their fight against malaria.

He said as a country in the malaria elimination continuum, they welcome all aid and assistance in their pursuit to be the first country to eliminate malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa.


“We are confident that these resources will make the desired impact in mitigating resource gaps through supporting preventative and curative interventions as we prepare for the upcoming malaria season,” said Matsebula.

He further said the fight is not over yet as they continue to implore more bilateral partners to support us in ending malaria.

The Minister said the End Malaria Fund is currently replenishing the fund to ensure the sustainability of the program.

“I would like to encourage and send a message to all companies and organizations, and to emaswati to make use of all our platforms to donate to the Fund,

and in turn, we take the opportunity to acknowledge and thank all the companies and partners who have shown their unwavering support despite competing social development priorities,” he said.

The Taiwan Ambassador Jeremy Liang said a healthy nation is a prosperous one and they cannot end malaria without the support of everyone in the country.

He continued to ask the Nation to pledge support to the ‘Zero Malaria Starts with Me initiative’.
