Prioritisation of local companies in awarding tenders for different services is one way for state-owned entities (SOEs) to help the country’s economy grow.
A tender worth over E1.5 million has been awarded by the Eswatini Civil Aviation Authority (ESWACAA).
The tender was awarded to Inner Works (PTY) LTD for the calibration services of ESWACAA test and measuring equipment having obtained a 99 per cent test evaluation score.
This is according to the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ESPPRA) website which stated that the tenders were disbursed to different companies in accordance with Section 45 of the Public Procurement Act No 7 of 2011, following a competitive bidding process.

Calibration service is aimed at detecting the inaccuracy and uncertainty of a measuring instrument or piece of equipment.
According to Aerospace, in calibration, the device under the test (DUT) is compared to a reference of known value to determine the deviation of the measurement from the true value.
Aviation maintenance professionals are expected to undertake routine checking and calibration of equipment, instruments, and test tools that are used to certify an aircraft or component.
“The purpose of this is to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance with industry standards and manufacturer’s specifications.”
Inner Works is a Swati company that was vying for the tender with three other companies that did not meet technical requirements, according to ESPPRA.
Two of these companies CYB-SAB and Instrument Control System Scored less than 80 per cent in technical evaluation and did not meet the technical evaluation criteria, whilst the other company, Right Spec was disqualified.
