A former enumerator in the Ministry of Education and Training has won herself E300,000 in the Eswatini Mobile Win A Million competition, June Edition.
An enumerator is a person who visits citizens at their homes to conduct interviews and collect demographic data. They create survey sheets or work on predefined surveys to gather census information.
Tenelisiwe Simelane (25) was announced as a winner during a live draw by Eswatini Mobile that was hosted by Ntsiki Dlamini and Nozipho Kunene on Facebook on July 1, 2024.

To win the share, the 25-year-old from Hlatsi had to load E100 airtime and nominate 10 of her friends and family whom she would share the money with, having kept half of E150,000 to herself.
During the live draw, Ntsiki made a call to Simelane’s winning number which was eligible for the win and the receiver responded that the winner was not close to the phone and gave the host another number to contact her on.
Upon doing so, Simelane picked on the other number, and the good news were shared with her.
In disbelief, Simelane reluctantly questioned whether the call was authentic and whether she had won for real.
“Uyadlala noma?” she questioned briefly expressing her shock at the news before the hosts went to an ad-break.

She told the hosts that she bought the number for the father of her child who resides in Manzini because the network has affordable data and minutes, therefore it has allowed them to constantly keep in touch because they do not reside together.
However, it was discovered that Simelane had not nominated anyone when she loaded the airtime and entered the competition, so 10 lucky customers were drawn by the hosts, winning themselves E15,000 each, which is half of the money won by Simelane who also kept half all for herself.
In a phone interview with the Eswatini Daily News, Simelane disclosed that her contract recently ended at the Ministry of Education, and she was unemployed, having resorted to returning home to Hlatsi and figuring out how she would make a living.
“This winning is the best thing that has happened to me, I still don’t believe it, I thought I was being pranked. I will use the money to start a business because after losing my job I had a few ideas and was lacking capital.
Now the money is here, and I will ensure to rotate it and make a living for myself. I am very thankful to Eswatini Mobile,” she said.
In response to nominating friends and family members, she said, initially she had bought airtime because of the packages that Eswatini Mobile has and had not planned on entering the competition, however, she is thankful that “it was a E100 well spent.”
