The Inter-Ministerial Office Complex in Mbabane received a much-needed makeover following a successful clean-up campaign conducted by the Government of Eswatini in partnership with Yibutse Green Action NPO.

The campaign, held on June 28, 2024, also saw the involvement of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Eswatini Environment Authority (EEA), and the Municipal Council of Mbabane.

The initiative was set up to address the cleanliness of the Inter-Ministerial Building, promote the importance of infrastructure maintenance, and strengthen relationships between government officials.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport asserted that this initiative is part of a broader effort to create a clean, safe, and healthy environment within government structures and to introduce a comprehensive maintenance plan for government infrastructure.

Activities during the cleaning day included landscaping, assessment and repair of reported issues within government offices, and a thorough clean-up of the premises.

Additionally, the various participants engaged in sensitization sessions on the importance of cleanliness and maintenance.

The Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Thulani Mkhaliphi emphasized the significance of this initiative.

“Maintaining a clean and well-kept government infrastructure is not just about aesthetics; it’s about ensuring the health and safety of public servants.

This campaign will serve as a foundation for a sustainable maintenance strategy, helping present a professional image to all who interact with Eswatini’s government, both locally and internationally,” he stated.

The Inter-Ministerial Office Complex had been plagued by issues such as water leaks, excessive dirt and plastics, and overgrown grass.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport initiated the clean-up campaign in response to these concerns, where it highlighted the need for regular maintenance to prevent such issues.
