Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini says despite musicians not being paid adequately for their work; music plays a significant role in the country’s economy.
In an address delivered by Minister Manqoba Khumalo at the CD launch of Gospel artist Phathwakahle at The Luke Commission, Sidvokodvo, Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini emphasized the irreplaceable role of music in the country’s economy.

Despite acknowledging the current challenges faced by musicians in being adequately compensated for their work, the Prime Minister commended the resilience and dedication of artists like Phathwakahle who continue to make valuable contributions to the cultural and economic landscape of the nation.
During the event, themed ‘Spiritual Healing – Do Not Stop Dreaming, Only God Knows When,’ the Prime Minister lauded Phathwakahle for her unwavering commitment to her craft, highlighting the artist as a symbol of perseverance in the face of adversity.
“Art, in general, has made a significant contribution to the country’s economy.
It is true, however, that we have not yet reached a stage where all our musicians can make a meaningful living out of music,” stated the Prime Minister.
Reflecting on the challenges inherent in pursuing a career in the music industry, the Prime Minister commended Phathwakahle for her steadfastness, noting that her enduring presence serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for aspiring Gospel musicians across the country.
“In an industry marked by trials and tribulations, Phathwakahle’s unwavering commitment to her artistry is a testament to the resilience and determination of our musicians.
Her journey exemplifies the power of music to uplift, inspire, and unite communities,” expressed the PM.

The premier confessed that he was particularly impressed by the theme of this event, which is ‘Spiritual Healing – Do Not Stop Dreaming, Only God Knows When.’
As he concluded his address, Dlamini encouraged aspiring musicians to draw strength from Phathwakahle’s example, urging them to pursue their dreams with unwavering tenacity and passion.
The PM further said many have tried this route before, but have thrown in the towel along the way, but here Phathwakahla is still standing as a beacon of hope to many aspiring Gospel musicians and still shining the Heavenly torch.
“May the light of your talent continue to guide and inspire others on their path to musical success,” he remarked.
