Two months after a visit by Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla, Sisana Juana Hlatjwako (63), a widow and mother of eleven, now proudly owns a decent two-bedroom house.
The new home is a stark contrast to her previous dwelling, which was a dilapidated structure made from old, leaking corrugated sheets.
Living on a meagre elderly grant, Sisana is said to have long dreamt of a safe and decent home but lacked the means to make it a reality.

Her children, none of whom completed high school or secured gainful employment, were unable to assist financially either in support or in providing a decent home.
During the official handover ceremony of her new home, which was constructed by the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) and funded by Phillip Morrison, Sisana expressed her overwhelming gratitude. “I don’t know what to say.
I am so grateful that finally, I have a beautiful house,” she said, her emotions evident in her voice.
Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla, who had been instrumental in ensuring Sisana received this much-needed assistance, praised Sisana’s children for their active participation during the construction process.
Their involvement not only accelerated the building work but also has been hailed for demonstrating a strong family bond and community spirit.

Ntfonjeni Member of Parliament Raymond Dlamini, who was present at the handover, applauded the DPM for her continued dedication to aiding the vulnerable in society.
He highlighted how Dladla’s compassion and proactive approach are making tangible differences in the lives of those in need.
In addition to the new house, DPM Thulisile Dladla donated rice, beans, and sponges to the family, which will ensure that their immediate nutritional needs were also met.
The Deputy Prime Minister’s gesture has been said to express her holistic approach to addressing the welfare of Eswatini’s disadvantaged populations.
