Prime Minister Russell Dlamini met with the outgoing British High Commissioner to Eswatini, H.E. Simon Boyden on Wednesday, who is concluding his tenure at the end of this month.

The farewell meeting marked the end of Boyden’s three-year service in Eswatini, during which he played a pivotal role in re-establishing the British High Commission in the country.

Prime Minister Dlamini expressed his gratitude and well-wishes to Boyden, stating, “He has been in Eswatini for three years after re-establishing the British High Commission in the country.

The government is committed to strengthening the relationship between our two countries. We wish H.E. Boyden well in his future endeavours and look forward to receiving him well in his future visits.”

Simon Boyden was appointed as the British High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Eswatini in 2021, succeeding John Lindfield MBE, who retired from the Diplomatic Service.

Boyden began his tenure in July 2021. During his tenure, Boyden focused on enhancing diplomatic ties, promoting trade and investment, and supporting development initiatives in Eswatini.

It has been shared that his efforts have been instrumental in strengthening the partnership between the two nations, particularly in areas such as education, health, and economic development.

The United Kingdom and Eswatini share a long-standing relationship established in 1968 and rooted in historical ties, mutual interests, and a commitment to development and cooperation.

Over the years, the partnership has been strengthened through various initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth, education, health, and governance.

Both nations continue to work together to enhance trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
