Siphosethu Shongwe (27) was arrested by the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) over the weekend and was charged with the murder of his girlfriend, a 26-year-old woman.
On Monday he was brought before a Manzini Magistrate where it is said he confessed to the alleged brutal murder of his live-in lover.
Eswatini Daily News (EDN) last week reported the chilling case of murder and torture that is said to have shaken the community of Ndlinilembi in Gebeni as the Royal Eswatini Police Service has launched a manhunt for a suspect who has been discovered sleeping next to the decomposing corpse of a 26-year-old woman he allegedly murdered.
The horrific details of the crime have sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood of Ndlinilembi, not so far from the geographical location of the REPS Operational Support Services Unit, shedding light on the heinous acts of violence and brutality that have shattered the lives of those involved.

Reports from sources close to the investigation revealed that the suspect believed to be the longtime boyfriend of the victim, subjected her to unspeakable cruelty, using a hot iron to torture her all over her body and inflicting severe injuries, including a broken left arm.
The victim, whose life was tragically cut short in a merciless act of violence, had endured unimaginable suffering at the hands of her assailant.
More disturbing is the revelation that the suspect had been sleeping next to the decaying body of the woman for more than three days, as he attempted to conceal the crime and evade detection.
According to the impeccable source, the grisly discovery was made by one of the victim’s sisters, who stumbled upon the horrifying scene and alerted the authorities to the gruesome reality of the situation.
The shocking nature of the crime has prompted swift action from community policemen and the community, who are now actively pursuing the suspect in a desperate bid to bring him to justice and ensure that he faces the consequences of his abhorrent actions.

According to the Police Information and Communication Officer, Senior Superintendent, Phindile Vilakati, the manhunt for the perpetrator has intensified, as police work diligently to track down the fugitive and prevent any further harm from being inflicted on the community.
“On 14/07/2024 at 2200 hours, a 26-year-old woman of Mphini was found lying dead on her bed inside a house with injuries and bruises all over the body while at Ndlinilembi,” PICO stated in the Police reports.
