Honouring King Sobhuza II …. Community donation drive brings hope and love to Malkerns folks

The Kingdom of Eswatini on Monday honoured King Sobhuza’s 125th birthday across the country with various exercises and initaitives.

And to honor the legacy of the late great King, the Youth Leadership Transformation Organization (YouthLet), in collaboration with the Malkerns Town Council and boMake Rural Projects – Green Adventures Enterprise (a student-run company), organized a significant donation drive.

This noble event took place in the Mafini community of Malkerns, where over 70 people received much-needed clothing donations.

The primary purpose of this event was to strengthen a sense of community and hope, particularly among the youth.

“We shared much on how they can use their hands to make a living,” said a representative from the organizing team.

This emphasis on self-sufficiency and empowerment was a recurring theme throughout the day.

Nomthobisi Dlamini, a volunteer with the organization, shared an inspiring message grounded in scripture, quoting Hebrews 13:16: “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

She reinforced the day’s core mission of spreading love, imparting hope, and transforming lives through knowledge.

In a public statement, the organization expressed deep gratitude for the donations received so far and called for further support.

“Thank you for the donation. We are kindly requesting more donations. Your R5 can transform someone’s life. Your unused clothes can provide warmth or cover someone’s body.

Moreover, Paul Nkambule, the Director of the organization, shared insights into the motivation behind the donation drive.

“After seeing that they need help, we collaborated because real transformation requires collaboration, which aligns with SDG 17,” Nkambule explained.

He highlighted the organization’s ongoing efforts, noting that they have donated to over 150 people since the beginning of the year and are celebrating their fifth anniversary.

Since 2020, YouthLet has reached over 3,500 emaSwati, providing critical support and resources.

Nkambule also addressed the youth directly, encouraging them to take action and contribute in any way possible. “Young people can also donate using their skills and other resources.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be money; it can be anything.”

The organization has numerous initiatives in the pipeline, are set to create a major impact across Eswatini.

Youth Leadership and Transformation Organization is a youth-led non-profit dedicated to empowering and educating young people on leadership development and entrepreneurship skills.

By doing so, they aim to build an insightful society, reduce youth unemployment, combat drug abuse, and address teenage pregnancy.

YouthLet focuses on developing future leaders, aged 15 to 35, across all four regions of Eswatini, enabling them to realize their highest potential.
