Mbabane Swallows’s marriage with their veteran striker Felix ‘Fela’ Badenhorst is on the rocks.
The two parties are reportedly not agreeing on a new deal following the elapsing of the former AS Vita club player two years contract on May 31, 2024.

Badenhorst spent the better part of last season on the sidelines due to the shoulder disclosing injury.
He has not been registered for the 2024 CAF Champions League by the Beautiful despite recovering from the injury. The ex-TS Galaxy talisman has even missed the Mpumalanga premier cup against his former side at the Mbombela Stadium.

A source within the Swallows camp revealed that the player’s future with the team looks uncertain.
“Felix has not reported from training since he has not agreed on a new contract with the MC. This has led to his exclusion from the CAF squad,” the source said.

Swallows Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge Ngwenya said contractual and registration issues are being handled by Governor Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane. “Please contact the Governor he is the one handling issues of contracts and registration,” he said. Zwane could not be reached for comment on the matter as his MTN number was unreachable. Zwane is currently in Mbombela for the team’s ongoing pre-season camp.

Attempts were also made to get Badenhorst, but his cell phone rang unanswered when contacted on Wednesday. The ‘Beautiful Birds’ will take on Mozambique side Ferraviaro in the CAF Champions League preliminary round in August.
