Business Eswatini (BE) held a pivotal meeting on Thursday, bringing together senior industry leaders from key sectors, including banking, forestry, logistics, and the sugar industry.
The event was organized by the Minister of Information, Communication and Technology, Savannah Maziya, and facilitated by BE.
Minister Maziya emphasized that although this initiative does not fall directly under the ICT Ministry’s portfolio,
His Majesty King Mswati III has charged all ministers with the responsibility of attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

She highlighted that historically, Eswatini’s exports to the Middle East, especially Dubai, UAE, have been low.
The Minister expressed hope that meetings of this nature would reverse that trend. She identified foodstuffs, especially sugar, logistics, and the ICT sector as the main beneficiaries of a strategic alliance with DP World.
She also stressed the potential of ICT infrastructure to serve as an enabler for integrated logistics entities.
The highlight of the event was an insightful presentation by Deon Lawrence Dmello of DP World, a leading global logistics company.
Dmello focused on strategies to boost Eswatini’s international trade capabilities and position the country as a premier logistical trade hub in Southern Africa.
During the session, DP World showcased their extensive experience in global trade and logistics, presenting best practices that Eswatini businesses can adopt to enhance their trade performance.
The presentation covered innovative solutions and strategic approaches tailored to the unique needs of Eswatini’s industries.
Business Eswatini’s leadership emphasized their commitment to driving economic growth and trade enhancement in Eswatini.

They expressed optimism about the potential impact of adopting DP World’s recommendations and pledged to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to implement these strategies.

“By leveraging their global experience and adopting best practices, we can position Eswatini as a leading logistical trade hub in Southern Africa.
This initiative will not only boost our trade capacity but also contribute significantly to our economic growth and development.”
Dlamini also extended his gratitude to the Minister of ICT for arranging such a crucial meeting for the business community.
