In a recent development, the Patriotic Alliance (PA) has brought attention to the nationality issue surrounding Vannesa Chidimma Onwe Adetshina, a Miss South Africa finalist.

The PA, through a press release, expressed its primary concern about confirming Adetshina’s South African citizenship.

“The lack of clarity on Adetshina’s citizenship status and her family background raises doubts among the South African people.

While the Miss South Africa organizers have endorsed Adetshina’s participation and affirmed her eligibility, questions regarding her nationality persist.

The Miss SA organisation confirmed this week that finalist Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina is eligible to be part of the pageant. It said in a statement that she had met all the requirements to participate.

“All documentation provided by the entrants is screened and vetted. Chidimma is a South African citizen, her mother is South African, and her father is Nigerian,” reads their statement.

The PA’s statement emphasized the need for transparency and verification of Adetshina’s citizenship to uphold the integrity of the Miss South Africa pageant.

“She must represent the best of what it means to be a young South African woman in this country today, and she must promote South Africa’s interests wherever she goes, particularly when she contests for global pageants such as Miss World or Miss Universe,” said PA Deputy President Kenny Kunene.

The Deputy President declared that as the Patriotic Alliance, they are therefore pursuing legal avenues to get to the bottom of this matter, including interdicting Adetshina’s participation, if necessary.
