In a series of alarming events across different areas, the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has apprehended four individuals in connection with serious offences, ranging from possession of illegal weapons to violent crimes.
According to reports released by the Police Information and Communication, Senior Superintendent, Phindile Vilakati, they sent shockwaves through the communities of Othandweni, Mkhalamfene, Nkoyoyo, and Mahwalala, prompting concerns about public safety and the need for swift justice.
The first arrest involved a 52-year-old man from Othandweni, who possessed a python without a proper license or permit in the Lavundlamanti area of Lubulini.
The discovery raised questions about the illegal wildlife trade and the enforcement of regulations aimed at protecting endangered species.

The man now faces charges related to unlawful possession of the python, highlighting the importance of adhering to laws designed to safeguard wildlife.
In Mkhalamfene, a 34-year-old man was arrested for possessing a twelve-bore shotgun without a valid license.
The incident, which occurred in the Mkhalamfene area of Mbabane, underscored the dangers associated with unlicensed firearms and the need for strict regulations to prevent misuse and potential harm to the public.
The arrest serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of possessing illegal weapons and the responsibilities that come with firearm ownership.
A more distressing case unfolded in Nkoyoyo, where a 37-year-old man was apprehended for an attempted murder involving a 73-year-old woman from Nkhaba.
“The victim was reportedly strangled, assaulted with fists, and forced to drink a poisonous substance in a harrowing act of violence.
The severity of the crime has shocked the community, with residents expressing outrage and concern over the safety of vulnerable individuals.
The arrested man now faces charges related to attempted murder, highlighting the gravity of the allegations against him,” PICO has said.
Lastly, in Mahwalala, a 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder of a 64-year-old man from Lobamba.

The victim was found dead with both legs fractured next to the road in Nkwalini Zone 2 of Simunye, raising immediate suspicions of foul play.
The circumstances surrounding the murder remain undisclosed, but the arrest of the young man has brought a sense of closure to the community and a step towards justice for the victim and his family.
