A week of heartbreaking tragedies has beset the community, with three infants losing their lives in distressing circumstances, leading to widespread sorrow and concern among residents.
On August 12, 2024, at around 09:40, a tragic incident occurred in Mbuleni where a seven-month-old baby boy tragically lost his life in a house fire.
According to Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Information and Communication Officer of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), the baby was asleep when the fire broke out.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation as communities mourn the young life lost in the blaze.

This incident follows a separate tragedy earlier in the week, where two other babies died in different circumstances.
Among them was a heartbreaking case where a mother unintentionally suffocated her infant while in bed.
Such events have alarmed child welfare advocates and community leaders alike, highlighting the pressing need for education and resources aimed at ensuring the safety of vulnerable infants.
Vilakati expressed condolences to the bereaved families, stating, “The loss of so many young lives in such a short span is heartbreaking.
We urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant about safety measures at home and to reach out for assistance if they are struggling.”
In parallel to these tragedies, police in Matsapha are investigating a theft of motor vehicle case that unfolded on the same day, August 12, 2024. A 34-year-old woman residing in Hlobile reported that her silver-grey Honda Fit, valued at E40,000, was stolen from her rented flat.
