A horrifying incident has shaken the peaceful town of Matsapha, as a 26-year-old man from Ethiopia met a tragic end in a ruthless execution-style shooting.

The victim, who was residing in Mahlabatsini, was gunned down in cold blood at 11:50 pm on August 17th, 2024. According to the Police Information and Communication Officer

, Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the victim was allegedly shot once in the back of his head with a pistol by two assailants.

Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, the young man tragically succumbed to his injuries while en route, plunging the community into shock and grief.

The untimely death of the Ethiopian man has left residents of Matsapha reeling, with many questioning the motive behind such a senseless act of violence.

As investigations into the incident begin, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati emphasized the importance of cooperation from the community in solving this heinous crime, stating:

“We are working tirelessly to apprehend those responsible for this appalling act. The cooperation of the public is crucial in ensuring that justice is served for the victim and his loved ones.”

It should be noted that as the investigation unfolds and more details surface, the community remains on edge, grappling with the shock and sorrow of this devastating event.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of his next of kin, but tributes and condolences are pouring in from those who knew him.

The investigation into the killing is ongoing, with the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) promising to leave no stone unturned in their quest for justice.
