HIS Majesty King Mswati III officially opened the 56th Eswatini International Trade Fair (EITF) 2024, where he highlighted the crucial role of digital transformation in accelerating economic growth and simplifying business operations.

Speaking at the event, which was graced by King Misuzulu of the Zulu Nation and the Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Wamkele Mene, His Majesty King Mswati III emphasized the significance of this year’s theme, “Accelerating Business Growth Through Digital Transformation.”

In his remarks, the King expressed gratitude for the opportunity to host a multi-sectoral international exhibition that marks exceptional years of existence.

He warmly welcomed both local and international exhibitors, noting the presence of King Misuzulu and his entourage as an example of the strong historical ties between the Kingdoms of Eswatini and Zulu.

The King reflected on the longstanding relationship between the two monarchs, which has seen numerous visits exchanged, including one by the late King Zwelithini who had also graced the trade fair.

This year’s EITF, attended by around 250 exhibitors, was lauded as highly encouraging, particularly with the involvement of development partners like the International Trade Centre and USAID.

The King highlighted the trade fair’s role in supporting enterprises to increase exports to the European Union, the United States, and other African nations.

The participation of countries such as Taiwan, India, South Africa, and Lesotho was also applauded, where His Majesty the King reflected on the fair’s international appeal and strategic importance in boosting trade relations.

Again, the King emphasized the alignment of the trade fair’s theme with the ‘Nkwe’ command at Sibaya, which calls for the acceleration of service delivery to businesses and the public while maintaining quality and efficiency.

This digital transformation initiative is expected to drive economic growth by strengthening innovation and making business processes more accessible and efficient.

In addition to the trade fair, the King encouraged visitors to attend the annual Reed Dance ceremony, which coincides with the event.

He commended parents, chiefs, and communities for encouraging the youth to learn about their culture and identity through participation in this colourful national event, which shares cultural significance with the Zulu Nation.

The King also acknowledged the blessings of the recent rains as a sign of divine favour upon the nation’s cultural and economic endeavours.

He also expressed that the trade fair is continuing to grow in momentum and the King praised the organizers for arranging transportation for attendees from different parts of the country which he said ensured that more people could partake in the exhibition’s offerings.

Moroever, His Majesty the King further declared the Eswatini International Trade Fair open for business, inviting exhibitors to share skills, trade ideas, and experiences.

He extended appreciation to all who contributed to the event’s successful preparations and planning, reinforcing the message that the fair is a crucial platform for driving economic growth through digital innovation.
