Schools across Eswatini opened for the third term without any disruptions, despite earlier claims that the start might be delayed due to the Shiselweni Umhlanga ceremony.
These rumours were quickly dismissed by Acting Principal Secretary Naniki Mnisi, who assured that all preparations for the reopening were in place.

Mnisi emphasized that the concerns raised were unfounded, affirming that food supplies had already been delivered to schools before the end of the previous term and that Free Primary Education (FPE) payments were currently being processed at Treasury.
Speaking to some students, they shared various feelings about the school’s opening. Tengcebo Mdluli, a student at Masundvwini High School, expressed her relief that there were no delays.
“I’m glad that we are back in school without any issues. We were about what people were saying. But I am glad that everything is normal and I just want to learn and finish school,” Mdluli said.
Mbuso Dlamini, a Form Three student from a school in the Shiselweni region, also shared his thoughts on the smooth opening of schools, despite earlier concerns.
“There were rumours in our area that schools might not open because of the Umhlanga ceremony, but I’m glad everything is back to normal.

It’s an important year for me, so I’m happy we didn’t lose any time,” Dlamini said. He then expressed his eagerness to continue with his studies, especially as he prepares for upcoming exams.
Ngcebo Hlophe, a teacher at Mkhuzweni High School in Manzini, echoed the same sentiments, noting that classes resumed smoothly. “We are pleased that the term has started as scheduled.
Our students are back in class, and we are ready to focus on their education without any interruptions,” Hlophe said.
The Acting Principal Secretary also addressed the Swaziland National Teachers Association (SNAT),
assuring them that the government was committed to maintaining the smooth operation of schools, with all logistical arrangements in place for a successful term.
