He highlighted that complacency and the underestimation of organized crime’s capacity to adapt and evolve present some of the greatest challenges in the fight against such criminal networks.
The workshop brought together a diverse array of stakeholders, including government officials, law enforcement agencies, members of the private sector, and representatives from non-governmental organizations.
This collaborative effort is aimed at fostering deeper cooperation and creating a robust network of partnerships essential for combating organized crime effectively.
Masango stressed the importance of integrated and collective approaches that encompass all stakeholders involved in the organized crime value chain.
“These partnerships will ensure a foolproof strategy that addresses the multifaceted threats and challenges posed by organized crime, while also future-proofing our efforts,” he said.
Participants at the workshop engaged in vigorous discussions, examining the complexities of organized crime networks and exploring strategies for dismantling them.
Recognizing the need for a holistic response, Masango urged stakeholders to consider international cooperation, stating, “Our efforts should transcend borders to dismantle the intricate networks supporting organized crime.”
