The Ludzeludze community has been left reeling in shock after a 24-year-old man tragically lost his life after being hit by a vehicle along the D36A public road near Soweto/Ludzeludze on October 6, 2024.

The fatal accident occurred at approximately 10:30 AM when a white BMW sedan, driven by a 47-year-old woman from Boyane, collided with a young pedestrian from Ka Phunga.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, and the victim was rushed to RFM Hospital.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The loss of such a young life has left family and friends grieving and searching for answers in the aftermath of the tragic event.

The driver of the vehicle, along with her 10-year-old son who was also in the car at the time of the crash, sustained injuries but were treated and discharged from EPH Hospital in Ezulwini shortly thereafter.

The police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident, emphasizing the need for road safety, particularly for pedestrians.

As the community mourns the loss of the young man, this incident underscores the importance of vigilance on the roads and the devastating impact that traffic accidents can have on families and friends.

Authorities are urging all road users to exercise caution and remain attentive while travelling.

In a separate incident on October 5, 2024, law enforcement agencies made strides in the fight against illegal drug possession, arresting two men in Lavumisa for possession of 20 kg of dagga without the necessary permits.
