In a rather bizarre and shocking incident, an old woman has been arrested after she attempted to murder her son (33).
Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati reported the arrest of a 54-year-old woman from Ezulwini, who stands accused of attempted murder after a horrific incident involving her 33-year-old son.
Allegedly, the woman sprinkled her son with a flammable spirit and set him alight in a shocking act that left the community in disbelief.
The son is currently recovering from severe injuries, while the mother awaits her day in court.
The old woman is expected to appear in court today at Lobamba, following her arrest.

It has not been established at the time of going to the Press as to what prompted the old woman to attempt to kill her son.
In a separate incident, the REPS (Royal Eswatini Police Service) apprehended a 24-year-old man from Mafutseni in connection with the brutal murder of a 19-year-old woman from Luve.
It is said that the victim, found in the Lwandle area with her throat slit, has shaken the local community to its core.
The police have indicated that their investigation is ongoing, and they are seeking further information from the public to piece together the events leading to this tragic loss of life.
It should be noted that there has been a litany of murder cases which have occurred due to Gender-Based Violence in the country in the past recent months.

Additionally, a 29-year-old man from Mbekelweni has been arrested and charged with breaking into the CSES Consultants Office in Magevini.
The suspect allegedly made off with property valued at an estimated E62,000.00. The swift action taken by authorities in this case illustrates their commitment to tackling property crime and restoring a sense of security within the community.
These incidents reflect a broader concern about rising crime rates in the region, prompting local leaders to call for increased community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
