Businessman Lucky Ngubane and wife Samkelisiwe have been released on their cognisance by the court.
This follows after the couple was arrested and charged with 69 counts including money laundering and tax evasion of money, amounting to over E174 million respectively.
The Ngubanes made their maiden court appearance at the Mbabane Magistrates Court on Friday, January 3, 2024, where they were remanded out of custody.

The couple was represented by an attorney who moved the application to have the Ngubanes released on their own cognisance.
The crown did not object to the application, which was granted by the court.
“For us, it was to have the accused persons make their first appearance in this court.

The issue of bail is to be determined by the High Court, and the accused are advised to move their application there as the appropriate court,” submitted the crown.
The businessman and his wife have been remanded out of custody until January 17, 2024, pending committal at the High Court.
