Laughter is often said to be the best medicine, and this January, two of Eswatini’s most renowned comedians are ready to prescribe an entire dose of joy.

Mdura and Cedric, famous for their razor-sharp wit and relatable humour, are teaming up to bring an all-new comedy experience with their upcoming show titled “Class Clowns.”

Set against the backdrop of post-holiday stress and school-related anxieties, the event promises to deliver a hilarious look at the lives of students, parents, and teachers alike.

The event is slated for January 31, 2025. The laughter-filled evening will unfold at Molly’s House of Grills in Mbabane.

The show kicks off at 7:06 pm, and tickets are available for E70 – a small price to pay for an evening of uproarious fun.

In a recent interview with Class Clowns co-host Mdura, he explained the show’s unique concept and the inspiration behind it.

“January is always a tough month for many,” Mdura said. “People are anxious about finances, feeling the pinch of money spent over the holidays.

Work contracts are being renewed, and there’s always the pressure of school fees, results, and the never-ending search for a place for your child.

The stress just piles up. So, we thought, why not take a moment to laugh at these frustrations? Life is tough, but it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom.”

Mdura, whose comedic style has made him a household name, described Class Clowns as an opportunity to address these shared struggles in a way that encourages laughter and relief.

“Sometimes, you just need to laugh at yourself, laugh at the situation, and remember that you’re not alone. We’re all navigating these ups and downs. Why not do it with humour?”

Unlike traditional stand-up shows, Class Clowns will be entirely centred around the theme of school life.

We’re not just talking about students, but we’re going full circle: the life of a parent, a teacher, the stress of assignments, PTA meetings, that feeling when your kid forgets their lunch… everything,” Mdura explained.

“It’s a comedic rollercoaster that anyone who has ever been involved in the education system will relate to.”

The show is set to feature plenty of observational humour, poking fun at everything from the absurdities of school uniforms to the outrageous demands placed on both students and teachers.

Expect to hear about those nerve-wracking moments in the classroom, the chaos of parent-teacher meetings, and the hilarious lengths parents go to when it comes to school fundraising or those dreaded school projects. “This is going to be one for the books—pun intended,” Mdura concluded.
