The ongoing dangers on our roads seems to be growing as a 40-year-old woman was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident early this morning near Timphisini along the Msahweni Buhleni MR 6 public road.
The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was struck by an unidentified motor vehicle at approximately 0400 hours.
According to Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Chief Police Information and Communication Officer, the victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mkhuzweni Health Centre.

The REPS are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, and an appeal has been made to the public for any information regarding the unknown driver and vehicle involved in this devastating incident.

This tragic event has sparked renewed discourse on road safety, especially concerning pedestrian protection and hit-and-run incidents, which continue to pose significant threats to community members.
