Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) has reported over 5,600 power outages across the country following a severe wind and thunderstorm that struck yesterday, leaving many households and businesses without electricity.
The most affected areas include Stonehenge in Mbabane with 1,132 outages, followed by Manzini with 854, Siteki with 849, Nhlangano with 574, and Big Bend with 411.

EEC assured residents that its teams are working tirelessly to restore service to the impacted areas, but the extent of the storm damage may result in delays for some communities.
Eswatini has been struggling with extreme weather conditions, including heavy storms and relentless rainfall, which have wreaked havoc on infrastructure across the country.

Roads and bridges have been damaged, making access to certain areas difficult, while numerous homesteads have been flooded or destroyed.
These weather events have compounded the challenges faced by communities and service providers, particularly as efforts to restore power and repair critical infrastructure continue.

EEC emphasized the importance of safety during this time, urging residents to avoid fallen powerlines and damaged infrastructure, as they should always be treated as live and hazardous.
The company has provided a self-service platform (*8888#) and social media channels for reporting outages and other safety concerns.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve these issues as quickly and safely as possible,” stated EEC.
