Finally, the long pending issue of police staff housing will be resolved as the Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini announced the approval of an ambitious institutional housing project during the first day of the Cabinet retreat.

The project, funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) at a substantial cost of E2.4 billion, will primarily focus on providing housing for police staff, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting essential service providers.

Prime Minister Dlamini emphasized that the rollout of the institutional housing program is in direct response to the calls from His Majesty and Sibaya for the government to strengthen its connection with the people.

“This initiative continues to characterize the operations of the current government, as we strive to uphold the principles of accessibility and service,” he stated.

He pointed out that as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to connect with citizens, Ministers have been actively visiting communities across the nation.

Through these engagements, many emaSwati have shared their experiences and challenges with government officials, leading to immediate interventions in various sectors.

“Our Ministers have been closer to the people, and we commend their dedication to understanding and responding to the needs of our communities,” Dlamini noted.

The Prime Minister also expressed optimism regarding the forthcoming completion of the Decentralization legislation, which aims to streamline government processes and enhance service delivery.

“The legislation will ensure that government interventions are more efficient and that services reach our people in a timely manner,” he added.

Despite the commendable progress, Dlamini acknowledged that challenges remain, particularly in service delivery within critical areas such as health and education.

“We are aware that while we celebrate our achievements, there is still much work to be done. We remain committed to addressing these challenges head-on,” he stated.

It is worth mentioning that as the government moves forward with the housing project and broader initiatives aimed at community engagement and service delivery, the nation will be watching closely.

The Prime Minister’s unwavering focus on bridging the gap between the government and its citizens signals a new chapter in the relationship between the emaSwati people and their leaders.

With the institutional housing program set to begin, many are optimistic that these developments will contribute significantly to improving the quality of life for both police staff and the communities they serve.

It should be noted that as the Cabinet retreat continues, further announcements and strategies are expected, paving the way for a more responsive and people-centered government.

The Prime Minister’s vision of a government that heeds the voice of its people is becoming increasingly clear, and the upcoming months will be pivotal in realizing that vision.
