Eswatini continues to strengthen its bilateral relationships with nations around the globe, aiming to foster partnerships that promote mutual growth and development.

By actively engaging in diplomatic dialogues and formal agreements, the country seeks to explore opportunities for collaboration across various sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, and technology.
One of these countries is Algeria.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Prime Minister Russell Dlamini through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation welcomed President of Algeria Abdemaldjid Tebboune’s special envoy Mohamed Meziane where senior government officials from both sides participated in the discussions, underscoring the importance of such a high-level engagement.

Also present were the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Algeria to Eswatini, Ridha Nebaïs, who successfully presented his credentials to the Kingdom last year.

Meziane delivered a message from the President to His Majesty King Mswati III, reaffirming the strong and enduring bonds of friendship between the two nations.

Diplomatic relations between Algeria and Eswatini were established in 1994, and have been built on shared values of peace, development, and African unity.

Through these strengthened ties, Eswatini aspires to position herself as a reliable partner in regional and international economic ecosystems while ensuring tangible benefits for its citizens.

These efforts are designed to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), enhance market access for Eswatini’s goods and services, and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise.

Additionally, such partnerships pave the way for infrastructural development, capacity-building initiatives, and innovation-driven economic activities, all of which contribute to the sustainable growth and diversification of Eswatini’s economy.

This visit highlighted the nations’ commitment to fostering stronger bilateral ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration areas such as trade and investment by enhancing trade flows and fostering investments in agriculture, energy, and manufacturing to benefit both economies.

In terms of education and training, there country aspires to expand Algeria’s scholarship programmes and technical training opportunities for emaSwati students to include vocational and specialised fields.

The country is also looking at collaborating on sustainable agricultural practices, leveraging Algeria’s expertise in desert farming to enhance food security in Eswatini.

Also to strengthen healthcare systems through joint initiatives, training medical personnel, and sharing expertise in public health.

Meanwhile in the tourism sector, to promote cultural exchange programs and joint initiatives to develop the tourism industries of both nations.

The visit reaffirmed both nations’ dedication to fostering partnerships that promote African unity, peace, and prosperity.

“This visit represents another milestone in the deepening relationship between Algeria and Eswatini, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
