Members of the House of Senate gathered to express gratitude to His Majesty King Mswati III for the Speech from the Throne that opened the Second Session of the 12th Parliament last week, Friday.
Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini led the proceedings, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging the King’s remarks and vision for the nation.
Senator Tony Sibandze took the floor to underline the revitalizing effect of His Majesty’s address, stating, “The Speech from the Throne revitalized us as a Nation.”
When the King articulated his plans and priorities last week, he evoked a collective sense of hope that surged through the Senate and the citizenry.

“Hope was restored when His Majesty the King opened the Second Session of the 12th Parliament,” Sibandze declared, highlighting the King’s commitment to uplifting the community.
Among the notable points raised by the Senator was the tremendous impact of the government’s efforts to care for the elderly and the youth, which he termed “very vital.”
He noted that the recent increase in social grants for elderly persons was a testament to the King’s dedication to this demographic.

“The E500 was no longer enough, and now the elderly persons will be able to have something to eat as they take their medication,” Sibandze emphasized, drawing attention to the crucial support many elderly citizens rely on for their daily needs.
The Senator’s remarks resonated with his colleagues, many of whom expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the increased support for vulnerable populations.
Restoring hope and confidence among citizens, particularly among the elderly, has become a central theme as the Senate progresses through the new session.
