In a major milestone for the Kingdom of Eswatini’s aviation sector, Eswatini Air
has announced plans to expand its route network to Lusaka, Zambia, marking a
significant development in the company’s growth trajectory.

The airline, which was launched in March 2023, has been making waves in the
aviation industry with its impressive connectivity and growth.

On February 10, 2025, Eswatini Air confirmed the new route via its social media platforms,
sparking excitement among customers and industry stakeholders alike.

The airline has been steadily increasing its destinations, currently serving four
routes in two countries, including Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town in South
Africa, as well as Harare in Zimbabwe.

The new route to Lusaka, Zambia’s vibrantcapital city, is expected to further boost the airline’s intra-Africa connectivity.

According to Eswatini Air’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Batsabile
Nkambule, the airline is keen on launching the new route but declined to disclose
the exact date of commencement.

However, she confirmed that Lusaka was indeed he next destination on the airline’s radar.

This development comes on the back of Eswatini Air’s recent recognition as the
Airline of the Year (best improved in intra-Africa connectivity for 2023 operations)
by the African Airlines Association.

Eswatini Air secures Zambian route

The airline was awarded the prestigious titlein November 2024, solidifying its position as a major player in the African aviation industry.

The airline’s rapid growth has been facilitated by the support of the Government
and the nation at large, with His Majesty King Mswati III congratulating the
aviation company on its achievement during the opening of the Second Session of
the 12th Parliament.

Since its inception, Eswatini Air has flown over 28,000 passengers in its first year
of operation, with plans to continue expanding its route network to meet the
growing demand for air travel in Africa.

The airline currently operates two Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft, the same model used by its first aircraft when it
launched operations in March 2023.

The addition of Lusaka to Eswatini Air’s route network is expected to further strengthen the airline’s ties with Zambia and the broader African continent. 

As the airline continues to spread its wings, Eswatini Air is well on its way to becoming a major player in the African aviation industry.
